Bio

Gary is Professor of Toxicology and Dean of Applied Sciences at Edinburgh Napier University.

With responsibility for Life Sciences, Social Sciences, Psychology, Teacher Education and Sports Exercise and Health Sciences. He has a background in toxicity and particle toxicology. He is responsible for leading Nano safety research at the university and is member of the Hazardous Substances Advisory Committee for Defra. Dr Hutchison was previously a member of the NANoREG UK steering group and the UK Government Nanotechnologies Strategy Forum.

Professor Hutchison's appointment as a member of the COT expires on 31st May 2025.
