Declaration of interest(s)
1. No new conflict of interests were declared.
Item 1: Welcome and apologies
2. The Chair welcomed AEJEG Members and other attendees.
3. Apologies were received from Dr Martin Rose and Dr Claude Lambre who were unable to attend the whole meeting and the morning session, respectively.
Item 2: RP1614 Application for the renewal of smoke flavouring primary product ‘proFagus R709 SF-008” (Reserved)
4. Members were last introduced to Regulated Products application RP1614 in their 23rd of January 2023 meeting. This discussion was held as a continuation of their assessment.
5. Members agreed that overall, the information provided at the time by the applicant was insufficient to allow for conclusions. The AEJEG considered that further, more in depth evaluation of the data would be required to fully assess the information., A number of areas were identified, where further information was needed. These were in particular with regards to the analytical information provided, information on stability, batch-to-batch variability, exposure (per discussion of the meeting on the 23rd of January 2023) and toxicity. Based on the above information, it was agreed that the Secretariat would prepare questions which would be circulated to the AEJEG, prior to being included in an RFI letter to be sent to the Applicant. The item would be revisited upon receipt of the requested additional information.
Item 3: RP1615 Application for the renewal of smoke flavouring primary product “proFagus R716” (Reserved)
6. The AEJEG were introduced to the dossier for RP1615 for the renewal of “proFagus R716”, a smoke flavouring primary product. Members were presented with the previously assessed information as well as updated information relating to genotoxicity and a signed study plan for intended genotoxicity work.
7. Due to time constraints the discussion for this item was not completed. The assessment of the Primary Product would be continued at the following meeting.
Item 4: Any other business (AOB)
8. Neither the Members nor Secretariat had other specific business to raise; however, a general discussion on similar issues identified across different Applications took place. In addition, the plans for future SFWG meetings were discussed.
Closing Remarks
9. Members were reminded that the next AEJEG meeting on Smoke Flavourings would take place online via Microsoft Teams on Tuesday 31st of January 2023 at 10:00AM.
