4.  First draft statement on the potential risks from hexabromocyclododecanes (HBCDDs) in the infant diet.This draft COT statement summarises the available information and the Committee’s provisional conclusions.  TOX/2014/35

5a. Potassium-based replacements for table salt and sodium additives - Additional information on hyperkalaemia. The Department of Health had asked the Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition (SACN) to review current recommendations on potassium-based replacements for sodium chloride and sodium-based additives, and to provide advice that would inform the setting of new targets for salt reduction as part of the Responsibility Deal. The COT requested additional data on the prevalence of hyperkalaemia in vulnerable adults and on the potential increase in dietary potassium intakes to assist in their consideration of any risk associated with an increase in dietary levels. b. First draft statement on potassium-based replacements for sodium chloride and sodium-based additives. SACN is considering the current recommendations on potassium-based salt replacers and have asked the COT to comment on the risk aspects. The Committee are asked to comment on the first draft statement on this topic. TOX/2014/39
