Professor of Environmental Health, School of Geography, Earth & Environmental Sciences, University of Birmingham

Professor Roy Harrison joined the Committee on 1 April 2012. He leads the Environmental Health Sciences Group in the School of Geography, Earth & Environmental Sciences at the University of Birmingham. His research interests lie at the interface of environment and health, with a particular interest in chemicals in the environment including aspects of chemical analysis and personal exposure as well as effects on human health. His recent work is a blend of environmental science, toxicology and epidemiology, and through collaboration, clinical studies.

Professor Harrison was until recently a member of Defra’s Science Advisory Council and has served extensively as a member of advisory committees for Defra (and its predecessor departments) and the Department of Health.

Professor Harrison’s appointment as a member of the COT expires on 31 March 2019.
