Peanut Allergy Working Group

Following questions about the use of peanut butter during weaning, the COT was asked to advise whether early exposure to peanuts and peanut products is a risk factor for the development of peanut allergy later in life. The work of the Peanut Allergy Working Group has now finished

The Committee were also asked what advice, if any, should be given about the consumption of peanuts and peanut products by pregnant and lactating women, infants and young children. A Peanut Allergy Working Group was established and met for the first time in January 1997. A Report on Peanut Allergy was produced and published in June 1998. Hard copies of the Report along with copies of a leaflet send to GP surgeries entitled 'Peanut Allergy: The Facts' are available by writing to:
